Our Weekend

I have been travelling the last two weeks for work. The first week I did a mini tour of Southern Arizona National Parks, including Coronado National Memorial, Tumacacori National Historic Park, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Saguaro National Park (both sides!). Last week I went for training down in Tucson. Needless to say, I was very tired and all the boys were happy to see me. Since both trips were for work, I did not have a chance to bring my camera. You can read more about each park by clicking on their names above!

This weekend was very quiet for us. Today was the last day for a houseguest we have had for four weeks. Sam and Monty's cousin, Heidi! This is a picture of her right after I gave her a both.

The boys have had a good weekend. I spent part of my time in the craft room painting. Sam has taken to love the craft room. What do you think, Sam?

Monty had a wonderful weekend too. He's always happy as long as he has a little sun to play in!

Both boys think they managed to escape having baths this weekend. What they don't know is that they are getting them right after dinner!

What?

What?

We hope you all have a great week!

Where's Sam?

Our Sam is hiding in plain sight somewhere below. Can you find him and let him know that his bath isn't until Saturday?

When the Mom is away...

As the group left the staging area* Monty was momentarily distracted by a thrown ball, loosing control. He swerved wildly, causing a 6 man pile up. Oddly enough, the other participants didn't seem to mind a bit.

*Saturday's "World Naked Bike Ride." Caution, do not Google that phrase. No really, just don't do it.

Black Velvet Goldens

I was listening to this last night while sipping a little of the same, and found myself inspired to try a photoshop of the boys in that "slow southern style."

I like it...not "hang it in the living room" like it exactly, but I'm pleased that the end result met my intent. Click the image to view full size, if you're so inclined.

Hot today, wasn't it?

Sam, you gotta get out here dog, the water is FANTASTIC! The ball is new, the cat is fake, and the sun is shining! C'mon Sammy, live a little!

You know I don't like to swim; and anyway, that's my ball and you're getting it wet. So hand it over.

But this is just GREAT! I know you're hot too, and it's gotta be over a 100 degrees today so how could you not love this? What do ya say Sammy, go put on that gear the Alphas bought so that you could play in the pool, and join me....we'll play tag with the ball.

That's it, I'll be out here waiting for you...heheh, this is gonna be so cooool!

OK, I'm ready! Hmmmm, where'd he go?

YOIKS!!!

HEHEHAHAHAHAH! Man, you shoulda' seen your face! Dog, that was HIGH-LARIOUS!!!! Woooo-hoooooOOOHhooo!

LATER THAT AFTERNOON....

Wellll....I thought it was funny.

Pet Expo

We haven't been able to blog much this week due to a family emergency. Thankfully, the situation is slowly resolving itself. Aaron and I decided to take a break and go visit the Phoenix Pet Expo. We took Sam and Monty along since we all needed a break!

The Expo was held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. We were surprised how crowded it was. We were a little bit worried about Monty, not knowing how he would react to so many people, sights and smells, but he behaved like a champion!

There were so many dogs there too! We saw so many different breeds. I'm pretty sure I saw Nigel Buggers, or maybe his doppelganger? They were gone too fast and we didn't get a chance to take a picture of him. By any chance were you guys in Arizona?

There were so many dog breeds! We saw bulldogs, retrievers, mixes - you name it, they all seemed to be there! We did get pictures of this big fuzzy girl. We are not sure what breed she was, but she sure was pretty.

Aaron managed to catch this picture of a Borzoi.

This little guy came dressed for the event!

There were other animals there beside dogs. We saw cats, birds, reptiles and rabbits.

The Expo had lots of things to see. There were all kinds of rescues and many of the booths had products or services to offer. We were really amazed by this guard dog demonstrations. He was so quick we had a hard time taking pictures of him!

This dog was part of a display for an obedience class. I think he was doing very well!

We were impressed by this Golden Retriever - he had his own setup to travel in style!

They were also giving flyball and frisbee demos. I hope you are paying attention, Monty!

Of course, Monty and Sam got lots of attention. Everyone wanted to stop and pet them. They both got lots of attention and visiting.

Of course, we really do try to wear some of Monty's energy off. I think we were a success today!

Sam...

...and Monty!

We hope you all have a great weekend!
