Weekend Update

Hello Everyone! Just thought we would give you a weekend update! First off, Mr. Sam got a much needed bath. He actually got the full spa treatment, compliments of Spa de le Mom. His toe hair has been clipped, he has been washed and he has been thoroughly brushed out.

The whole thing was rather upsetting to him.

We did try a recipe for yam chews that Charlie gave on his blog. We think we need to let the dry a little longer, but all in all they were a big hit with Sam! Thank you, Charlie!

We don’t have any pictures of Sam eating them, because he was just too quick for the camera, but here he is pre-yam.

I thought I would follow up last week’s weather report with an update of how our weather has been. We had one more rain shower, but the last couple of days have been dry, warmer and very pleasant.

Here is the view I have at my office.

This is the drive home. There was lots of snow at Top of the World…

…and none in Devil’s Canyon. This is my favorite part of the trip.

That is our truck in the front to help give an idea of scale.

This is the Queen Creek Tunnel.

The rest of the weekend was spent planting Geraniums and cleaning and reorganizing the craft room. Sam of course was lots of help, and even put on his official ranger hat to help.

We hope you all have a wonderful week!

Weather Report

Sam here. Sam has special report on the weather. Sam not as good as some of his weather friends, but Sam giving it best shot.

First off, it has been raining like crazy since Thursday. Mom got sent home early on Thursday, they were afraid she couldn't come home once the flooding started. Sam not complaining.

First off, this is greenbelt where Mom walks Sam. See the poles? That is where Mom and Sam walk. Sam needs boat now.

Mom still need to feed horses, even in this weather. She took some pictures of the Superstition Mountains - see how low the clouds are?

Mom even saw a waterfall running down the front of the mountain!

The roads have been flooding, but not bad enough that Mom can't get to Grandma's to feed the horses.

Sam has been rather disappointed that Mom does not take Sam with her. Sam rather disgruntled.

Mom: Ummmm, Sam?

Mom: Sam? You've got something in your teeth....

Mom: Right there...

Sam's Mom here... While I am wrestling the yogurt cup away from Sam, I thought I would share this picture Sam's Grandpaw John drew of Cisco.

We miss her greatly.

Remembering Cisco

This has been a very tough weekend for us. We've kept busy, because stopping gives us too much time to think. We've really enjoyed reading your kind thoughts for our sweet Cisco.

Aaron and I spent part of the weekend putting together a memory box for her. I really like how it turned out. The large white circle is a pawprint impression that the vet's office made for us.

I also did this little pencil sketch of her.

There are other things that remind us of her. See the dark green spots on the lawn? Those are where she peed. For some reason, every spot she peed grew the darkest, thickest, quickest growing grass you could image! We see these every time we leave the house.

Cisco really liked to tear apart tennis balls. Sam didn't take any of his out of the toybox while she was here, because this is what happened when she found them. We've noticed he has brought out several since Saturday.

Sam really seems to be missing his big sister. He wakes me up at night because he is lonely and wants company. I've noticed he has inspected the whole house, as if he thinks she is in one of the other rooms.

Every picture we find right now is so precious. Even the funny ones taken on my cell phone.

...or the one taken in my truck.

Goodbye, Cisco

Our sweet Cisco passed away this morning. We noticed she seemed to be fading this week, and yesterday she started getting sick again. Aaron brought her to the vet. At 9am this morning, Dr. Kern said she took a deep breath and was gone. She was a good girl, and we loved her.

We are planning to scan her photographs - I will post more from her soon.

100th Post!

We finally made it to our 100th post, but are having so many internet problems that we have been unable to upload photos to blogger! It looks like Sam's Mom will be spending her mornings at Paradise Bakery this weekend!

We promise an update on Cisco and Sam then!

Secrets

This photo hangs on our refrigerator - I apologize if it looks a little worn, it didn't scan well. It is one of our favorites of Sam and Cisco together. This was taken at my Mom's house and Sam must be about 6 to 8 months old. Aaron and I think Cisco is telling Sam about all the wonders in the yard, especially the rabbits.

Cisco has been recovering well. One of her medicines made her so panicky that she began to pull fur off of her paws. Dr. Kern took her off of it and now she is doing better. So far so good!

To the Snow! (Maybe...)

As you all know, Sam and I are quite comfortable in our snow free environment.
(Please note this is a backyard shot - we let the grass die during the winter...)

However, we have enjoyed looking at all the pictures of our friends enjoying the snow! We've talked about bringing Sam and Cisco to play in it, but haven't made it that far north yet. After seeing the perfect snowflake land on Murphy's (Red Dog Romping) fur, Sam decided it was time to go play in the white stuff. Sam wanted to make sure he was prepared in case we decided to go. First, we had to make sure he would stay toasty...

Mom, are you sure this is warm enough?

Sam is still not convinced he wants to go. He has heard it can be wet, which sounds suspiciously like a bath to him. Plus, if he wears my jacket, what am I supposed to wear?
